The layer's blending modes can be really useful when trying to achieve different effects using various images, text, colors, shapes, etc. We'll learn some more about them now.

How to change the layer's blending options
We just select the layer and click on a drop down next to the layer's opacity and select the mode we want to apply to the layer.

The effects
There's really no way I can think of to explain this, so I will do it graphically. Below it's a table where I used an image and duplicated the image layer and changed the top layer's blending mode. It shows the most commonly used ones.

On this another one, I used a plain color layer just above the image layer and changed the blending mode of the color layer.

Now you would just basically experiment with this. Good luck and have fun!
